SOS Support Public Broadcasting Coalition (SOS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Noor Ahmad as the new Campaigns’ Coordinator.

Ms Ahmad joined the Coalition on 14 August 2023. She will play a pivotal role in advocating for the strengthening of the SABC as our public broadcaster and ensuring that it fulfils its democracy enhancing role. Through the implementation of online and offline campaigns and public engagement she will contribute to holding the SABC and its oversight structures to account.

Ms Ahmad brings affluent experience and passion in campaign work. She is dedicated to preserving and promoting public broadcasting principles in alignment with The Coalition’s vision of fostering independent, diverse, and quality local content in the public interest.

SOS is confident that Ms Ahmad’s initiatives will add value to the Coalition’s ongoing commitment and success in safeguarding the public broadcaster and ensuring it fulfil its intended role in society.

She said “South Africans deserve a public service media which is people-centred and shares information which is meaningful, credible and of high quality. I look forward to working on campaigns which focus on ensuring the SABC fulfills its public broadcasting mandate and furthering the Coalition’s objectives.”

Uyanda Siyotula, National Coordinator at SOS, said “Ms Ahmad’s expertise and enthusiasm will be instrumental in amplifying The Coalition’s message, and steering public conversations about the role of a public broadcaster and beyond”.
