SOS and MMA lay Complaints against SABC on Magashule Interview

The SOS Coalition and Media Monitoring Africa had laid three formal complaints to the BCCSA, the Press Council, and to the SABC itself.

The three complaints deal with the numerous violations of the BCCSA Codes of Conduct, the Press Code, and the SABC’s own Editorial Policies that took place during the interview by SABC Journalists, with Ace Magashule on 18 November 2020, during the show, Full View.

The Coalition and MMA seek to obtain rulings on the interview to make it clear that the kind of reporting or commentary that is evidenced in the video is not in accordance with ethical journalism principles and violates various well-established conduct rules as laid down in various self-regulatory Codes.

We believe that this kind of journalism if left unchallenged,  will lead to the detriment of the public mandate of the SABC.
